Pirouette of Excess: The Dance of Overindulgence

Pirouette of Excess is a collaboration project with Jasmine Azzahra, the creative director of this music video and Bruna Ferretti, the featured dancer. The objective of this project is to shed light on overconsumption in the fashion industry.

Inspired by the life of Marie Antoinette and her excessive wardrobe, the concept draws parallels between historical extravagance and modern-day fashion waste. The garment worn by Bruna is made entirely from deadstock fabrics, emphasizing both the importance of upcycling and the darker consequences of consumerist behavior.

The music video was filmed in an open field in Empoli. The whole vibe feels like a dream that’s slowly falling apart: soft sunlight and dry grass. Bruna dances alone, almost like a ghost of someone who used to have it all. The music has this haunting build, layering tension and softness, like something luxurious that’s starting to rot. You see these flashes of the dress made from deadstock fabric, bits and pieces coming together into something grand but unstable. It’s pretty, romantic, but with an edge. Like watching the end of a fairytale where no one really wins.
